Mount Track Team Finishes Successful Season

The Mount Saint Dominic Academy indoor track team started the season at the Leon Bailey Relays in Staten Island and ended the season at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions in Toms River.  

Distance Coach Kristen Zosche, Sprints Coach Richard O’Connor, Jumps Coach Khay Tighman, and Throws Coach Stacey Marcus led the team to accomplish season PR’s with many athletes qualifying at highly competitive meets. Alexa Raphael had a PR of 45.5and Anya Michalewski had a PR of 46.0 in the 300m. Raphael also broke the Mount’s school record in the 200m with a time of 27.02.

At CTC Championships the team to showcased their talents. Freshman Clare Mulvihill finished the 1600 in a PR of 5:41 to place 11th. The 4×400 relay of Murphy, Huelbig, Michalewski, and Sartori, placed 6th with a season-best time of 4:26. In the 3200, Katie Onello placed 2nd with a time of 12:01, and Sophie Conklin placed 3rd with a PR of 12:07. The 4×200 relay of Dorval, Ruvo, Patterson, and Raphael placed 6th at CTC Relays with a time of 1:53.4.

Onello, Raphael, and Kaylin Ranges continued their indoor season by qualifying for the Eastern State Championships. Ranges jumped 15’ 5.25” in the long jump, Onello ran 11:53 in the 3200, and Raphael ran 7.64 in the 55 m dash.

The season closed at NJSIAA Meet of Champions where Onello placed 29th in New Jersey in the 3200 with a time of 11:51.

Additionally, during the winter track season, senior Maddie Huelbig signed to continue her cross country and track career at Franklin and Marshall.

Overall, the indoor track season was a success and the team is ready for the spring track season with some new additions to the coaching staff. Rob DeCarlo signed on as the distance coach, Rob Kessler is the new throws coach, and Brad Vaccaro joins the team as the jumps coach.
