Mount Basketball enters the 2024-2025 season with renewed energy and ambition under the leadership of new Head Coach Brian Dorflaufer. Last season, the team finished with a 12-14 overall record and a 3-8 standing in the highly competitive Super Essex Conference American Division. Facing tough opponents throughout the season, the team gained valuable experience that will serve them well this year.
This season, the team is led by captain Maddie Natale ‘25, a standout guard who scored 261 points last year. Natale is supported by seniors Grace Baron, Lorelei Middleton, and Regina Salandra, who add leadership and depth to the roster. Returning underclassmen, including junior Jackie Karcic and sophomore Bella Iannitelli, who contributed 235 points last season, are expected to play key roles in the team’s success. With a talented roster of varsity and JV players ready to play significant minutes and gain experience, the team is well-positioned for growth and development.
The coaching staff includes JV Head Coach Angelo DelVecchio and Assistant Coaches Nico Natale and Rob Rollo, who bring expertise and a commitment to player development. The Mount will open their season with five straight home games, starting December 17 against local rival Glen Ridge. With determination and a talented lineup, Mount Basketball is poised to make a strong showing in both the Essex County Tournament and the NJSIAA Non-Public “A” Tournament.
